Pat Simon - Hold Tight Cover
(Pic credit: Discogs)

It's true, I can't - damn all those incredible girl pop compilations! These two melt-worthy tunes refuse to leave my brain, and have kind of merged into one rather glorious mash-up.

  1. Pat Simon - Hold Tight
  2. Les Gamines - Vis ta vie mon gars
Les Scarabées

Click here to see some pics of Les Gamines - I think their outfits make me love them even more. Speaking of Canadian yé-yé girls, if anyone has an mp3 of a rare group called Les Scarabées, could you please let me know? I have an LP of theirs, but no money in the near future to get vinyl to mp3 equipment. I know nothing about them, except that Liz Brady, whose songs show up on a few yé-yé comps, was in them.

'Hold Tight' is another track from Ultra Chicks Volume 6. 'Vis Ta Vie Mon Gars' i s from Girls In the Garage Vol. 10. Keep an eye out on Ebay for the original records of the lesser known artists on these compilations, as they often go for quite cheap.

That song by Les gamines (great name!) sounds like something some generic teenypop band on a Hanna-Barbera cartoon would play - not that that's a bad thing - but that Pat Simon song is TIGHT. And I don't use that phrase often, so it really means a lot here. :-) Very fab!

That Les Gamines song is as adorable as they look. Is there anything better than an all-girl French rock band? Hopefully you can someday post a track or two by Les Calamites, the coolest all-girl French band from the 80s. I was disappointed that Girls in the Garage 10 is only available on vinyl. Better go steal a turntable...

I just found out there's a Quebecois 60s girl groups compilation, and both the Les Gamines and the Les Guerrieres song are on it. I can't find what it's called right now, but I'm on the case.

Oops, I was mistaken.I saw someone on soulseek with a folder entitled 'Groupes Quebecois 60s Beat Vol. 1', but it seems it was a DIY compilation. If someone knows different, let me know.

    some questions...
(Pic credit: Unsung – The Book Of Seth) Does anyone know the lyrics to my favourite song 'Vie Ta Vie Mon Gars' by Les Gamines (posted here early on). Happy to post it again if you don't have it and think you can help. It's not so ...
