Yes it is! Although I'm not really sure what it says about me that this is the song that has inspired me to post again:

Parchís - Gloria

Though what could fail to be inspirational about an 80s Spanish kiddie music group's cover of 'Gloria'? And yes, it's the Laura Branigan one, not the Van Morrison one.

*Edit: I did not realise the original was actually an Italian hit by Umberto Tozzi. Thankfully, the internet came to my rescue with yet another piece of useless trivia.*

Links: The Official Site is all in Spanish, but the cartoon singing faces transcend any language barrier. Wikipedia - Parchís. More Parchís videos than you could ever dream of...

*Edit: Check out Laura Branigan in all her sequinned-and-spandex ...ah, glory in her 1982 video for the song. Or if you really want to see some sequins, watch Sylvie Vartan's 1982 performance of 'Gloria'. Not recommended for those who are faint-hearted about seeing the frightful transformation, musically and style-wise, that the 70s and 80s reaped upon our favourite yé-yé girls.*

Candy heartNew on my YouTube page is an alternate video (a scopitone? I'm not sure) for 'Les Sucettes', courtesy of the wonderful Will Kane, complete with dancing lollipops that look like no lollipops I've seen before. Between these and the constant shots of ladies relishing their sucettes, you get an idea of how innocent Ms Gall must have been to have missed the anything-but-subtle innuendo.

I've also uploaded a great clip of some early footage of France and Serge Gainsbourg and a longer version of the telephone clip I posted here, which has some performance footage at the end.

If you love these videos, please take a second to rate them. The ratings get brought down by (presumably) non-fans, and don't really reflect to fans that these are rare, usually good quality, and damned exciting to get to see.

I'm only interested in her up to about 72, and I do have a few videos from after that, but I think I have everything from the time period of hers I like. Have you checked out my youtube page? http://youtube.com/user/spikedcandy I have a few of them up there.
          • Pierre
Thanks again! I found there two others I didn't know. You will find +/- 60 FG videos there (from 1963 to 1996) : http://www.ina.fr/archivespourtous/index.php You make a research (recherche) with her name. If you don't know, you will be very happy! There are a lot of other french singers too! I hope I surprise you! (I think my English is very bad? Is it?)
            • Christine
No, your English if fine :). I have looked at the INA archives before (have a look at my recent posts on Anna Karina and Jacques Dutronc, if you're fan of theirs) but I neglected to notice a few of those 60s FG clips. Thanks! Actually I have a little clip that's a montage of a few clips I've never seen. I'll post it at some point and maybe you can tell me if you have the full-length of any of those.
