France Gall - Ein bißchen Goethe, Ein bißchen Bonaparte

A televised performance from Germany for an annual song contest (Gerry, if you are reading, please remind me of the details of this). This is possibly my favourite German track of hers, and what a darling performance. Everything we love about France is evident in spades here - her adorable charm, her tenderness and her heartfelt singing. A lesser quality transfer than I would have liked to have shared with you, but you can all look forward to the day I get a DVD drive and can share better copies of this and more.

'Ein Bißchen Goethe...' reached #3 in the German charts in 1969.

    Hi Christine ! The name of the contest was "Deutscher Schlagerwettbewerb" and she looks indeed pretty darn nice in this spot ! There are two other performances of France Gall from this contest, one from 1968 and one from 1970, (this one was actually from 1969), in which she performed "Computer Nr.3" and "Dann schon eher der Pianoplayer" The Ali Baba performance we were chatting about was from a monthly German TV show called "Hitparade" in 1971.

      Can you remind me also where she placed in these contests?
      I agree, it's great to see her performing confidently. In the subsequent German performances I've seen, she really seems to have hit her stride and be having fun.
      And yes, German 60s-70s fashion rules!

        Hi Christine ! In 1968 and 1969, she placed 3rd, and in 1970, she placed 6th in the annual contest "Deutscher Schlagerwettbewerb". She has been in the "Hitparade" 6 times, but unfortunately, the only one still available is the one from 1971 with Ali Baba. The other film rolls are said to have been destroyed by a fire inside the archive of the TV station. Take care ! Chat with you soon...
