Teenage Japanese model Linda Yamamoto released her debut single 'Komacchauna' in 1966 to enormous success, selling over 1 million copies. Her subsequent attempts at a hit single flopped, until her comeback in 1972 with 'Dounimo Tomaranai'. (She recorded a new version of this song used as the closing theme for the anime series Legendz, which was released this year as a single, but it's not a patch on this original). Linda's phenomenonal modelling success, which was significantly furthered by her musical fame, led to her being known as the 'Japanese Twiggy' (not very imaginative really). She was known for her midriff-revealing stage outfits, which caused outrage at the time.
I'd love to hear more Linda Yamamoto - if you have any you want to share with me, you'll make me very happy! Also if you can help with any more buying links, please let me know.
